Save Bingo in Whitby

January 13, 2010
Whitby council to make decision on relocation of Hideaway Bingo Hall on Monday, February 8 at 7:00 pm.

Support future charity bingo in Whitby by attending the council meeting on February 8.
The meeting will take place at the Whitby Municipal Building, 575 Rossland Road E and your support as bingo players is urgently required.

Over the past few months we have been working towards re-locating Hideaway in the Town of Whitby. We have secured a location and have been working with local charities who wish to continue with us at our new location. However a small group of people working in conjunction with the Red Barn in Oshawa are trying to keep us from opening. It also appears that some councillors do not support the continuation of bingo in the Town of Whitby. Among other things, they do not believe there are enough bingo players to support a hall in Whitby.

This is about your freedom to play the game you love, where you want to and when you want to. It is a freedom of choice that you should have as a “player” and as a resident of Whitby or the Durham Region. Also keep in mind that the charities you support by playing bingo will not be able to raise funds, the Town of Whitby itself will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in the coming years and jobs in Whitby will be lost forever.

Ask yourself this question, what does the Town of Whitby or the residents of Whitby have to lose by us opening at our new location at 114 Dundas Street East. The answer is nothing. We will all lose. Let your ELECTED council members know that you are in support of Bingo in Whitby by emailing them at: council@whitby.ca and attending the council meeting on February 8
